and Pure Black Castings™
Earthworm Castings "The Fertilizer Nature Intended"
Q: [FAQ Question]If I use too much, will
these fertilizers burn my plants?
A: [FAQ Answer]No. These organic fertilizers are slow
released, meaning there is no heat up or excess nitrogen to burn
your plants. One caution: do not apply nitrogen when using
VermaPlex®. The nitrogen will burn
when applied too soon after or before applying VermaPlex®.
When using VermaPlex®, you should cut
whatever nitrogen you are using by at least 50%. You will have
to be the judge of whether or not you need extra nitrogen.
Q: [FAQ Question]Why are the npk numbers
so much lower for Pure Black Castings®
than for chemical fertilizers?
A: [FAQ Answer]The microbes in these fertilizers will be feeding
your soil, which in turn will feed your plants. This process
is ongoing. That is what is meant by "slow-release". In
chemical fertilizers, all the components are introduced to the soil
and the excess is washed away. The plants are "force-fed" and
this is an unnatural way to feed your plants - nature does not
operate that way. The npk is higher for chemical fertilizers
because only a fraction of the applied chemicals are ever actually
used by the plant.
